David Pearson is a Research Professor in the School of Life Sciences and School of Sustainability at Arizona State University. He has worked on a breadth of organisms from crabs and insects to Paramecium and birds, and a range of habitat types from coral atolls to desert grasslands. His current research concentrates on the use of a small group of insects, tiger beetles, as bioindicators of conservation in tropical lowland rain forests around the world. Dr. Pearson also works on developing new techniques for environmental education, especially in Latin America and India. He has taught more than 30 workshops in 15 countries on "active learning and the sustainable use of biodiversity." He has also written 15 books, mostly dealing with ecotourism and conservation of biodiversity.
