Mono Lake and Laguna Mar Chiquita are sister lakes renowned for providing critical habitat for Wilson’s Phalaropes within the Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network. In response to the need for conserving saline ecosystems, Experiencia Ambientalia was established in 2021 to engage youth in Laguna Mar Chiquita's conservation. Through collaborative efforts with Mono Lake Committee staff and local Lee Vining teachers, an international "flock" was formed at Mono Lake in 2023. Over the last nine months, students from both hemispheres have participated in environmental activities, preparing for an international exchange focused on conserving saline lakes. This presentation will feature discussions by students from both lakes about their conservation efforts and experiences.
