Maya Khosla (she/her)

Maya Khosla (she/her) Biologist and writer Maya Khosla recently investigated post-fire regeneration and rare wildlife in snag forests, including giant sequoia groves. As Sonoma County Poet Laureate (2018–2020), she brought communities together to heal through gatherings, field walks, and shared writing after wildfires. Her books include All the Fires of Wind and Light and Keel Bone and she received the 2023 Fund for Wild Nature Grassroots Activist Award. After surveying forests of the Sierra Nevada, she created a short documentary film, Searching for the Gold Spot, about places that experience rejuvenation and support high biodiversity after wildfire.
